I’m super stoked to let you guys in on the third new addition to the schedule this year, and it comes to us courtesy of Macstock speaker, Wally Cherwinski who introduced me to a Canadian filmmaker named Noah Leon and his super talented production team who are putting the final touches on a brand new documentary about “a little green computer and the people who love it”: Apple Computer’s Newton!
Scheduled to be released to its backers on February 27th, 2018 (hint: the 20th Anniversary of Newton’s cancellation), the film is titled “Love Notes to Newton” and it’s a 1.5-hour documentary that uncovers the history and philosophy behind the Newton Community, what the Newt’s enduring charm is, where it came from, and what it means to the people who created it and who use it.
And the best part is Noah will be joining us at Macstock to give us all a special Macstock Public Screening of the film as well as a Q&A with the director to wrap up Macstock 2018’s weekend and … you are all invited because the documentary’s screening is included as part of your Macstock 2-Day Weekend Pass!
Prior to Macstock, you can pick up your own copy of the documentary and support Noah’s efforts by purchasing a copy on Vimeo once it’s released. Profits from the sale of the film on Vimeo will go to support bethematch.org in honor of Steve Capps, who was a major contributor to Newton.
If you’re interested in Apple’s history, or ever wondered about the “legendary device which coined the term PDA in the early nineties”, or maybe even own a Newton yourself (YOU HAVE TO BRING IT!), you can’t miss this special public screening of “Love Notes to Newton”, and it’s all happening at Macstock 2018!
