The Road to Macstock rolls on with a conversation with Allison Hartley of The Tech Doctor Podcast. Allison will be talking about accessibility from the iOS standpoint, and how her iPhone has largely replaced her Mac, and in many cases, does a better job because of apps and form factors. Surprisingly, Allison finds her iPhone superior to her iPad when it comes to addressing accessibility, and tells us why.

Our next stop on The Road to Macstock features three different presenters covering very different topics. Dr. Robert Carter of The Tech Doctor Blog and Podcast will discuss Mac accessibility, Guy Serle of the MyMac Podcast will be showing tools and techniques to create podcasts from his iPad, and Tim Robertson of The Techfan Podcast will serve as ringmaster for the on-stage speaker roundtable discussions. The group cover their individual presentations, comment on Apple upgradability, and share if and how they use their iPads.

Apple conferences are about more than traveling to a different city to learn something new. Today Mike Potter from Mac Stock and Barry Fulk from the Midwest Mac BBQ join Jeff Gamet to talk about the community experience we get from conferences and why that makes smaller events more appealing to some attendees.
In addition to lunch on Saturday and Barry’s Midwest Mac BBQ Saturday night, when we added a second day this year, I wanted to put together a little continental breakfast for everyone on Sunday, but the feedback I’ve been getting tells me that most folks aren’t terribly interested in a continental breakfast, either because your hotels offer very similar breakfasts or you were looking for something a bit healthier than sweet cakes. Many of you were also worried you wouldn’t get to the conference center before the breakfast was over!
So with that in mind, I spoke with the great folks at MCC’s Luecht Conference Center and came up with a custom substitute that allows us to “pivot” a bit and switch over from a limited-serving-time continental breakfast to an all morning long “snack bar” instead! (more…)
